Grilled Chilli Paneer

What you'll need

  • 4 tablespoons vegetable oil , plus more for greasing the grill
  • 1 tablespoon chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion granules
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 (230g) blocks paneer cheese , or dairy free alternative

Method:

 

  • For best results, cook on a barbeque. Prepare for direct heat and make sure it’s at a medium-high heat before cooking.
  • Combine the oil with spices in a large bowl. Cut each block of paneer into 6 slices. Add to the oil mixture, turning to coat several times. Marinate while the barbeque preheats.
  • Oil the grill. Turn the paneer slices in the marinade to coat again. Place on the grill and cook with the lid up for 30 seconds, rotate the slices 45 degrees to get nice cross hatch marks, cook for another 30 seconds. Flip and do the same for the other side.
